Job Summary

Lotus Africa seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and motivated individual to the post of Crane Operator at Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Karonga.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • To operate cranes is achieved in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner. Assist in maximisation of uranium production with the available resources including personnel, workshop, equipment, and external providers.
  • Operate mobile crane.
  • Ensure rigging is done effectively and all safety procedures are respected.
  • Conduct daily inspections and ensure any defects are reported to Maintenance.
  • Ensure Preventive Maintenance and Statutory inspections are carried out.
  • Always work safely and abide by all safety rules and procedures.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Uphold company vision and values.
  • Ensure all safe work systems, procedures and standards are adhered to.
  • Attend safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Punctuality and availability as per the roster
  • Completion of work to the highest standards
  • Control and maintain the rigging store as well as all its contents.
  • Keep a register of all rigging gear, safety harnesses
  • Record by signature the issue and return of all rigging gear or safety harnesses from the rigging store
  • Ensure maintenance team members are informed and updated with safety related communications.
  • Ensure toolbox meetings are conducted.
  • Manage day-to-day maintenance planned and unplanned.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Crane Operators Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years Crane Operator experience
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience in Process Plant
  • Proven supervisory skills to lead a team of tradesman.
