Position: Project Manager – Debottlenecking (1)
Org Unit: Projects & RDO
Reporting: Projects & RDO Lead
Location: Dwangwa
Job Category: Fixed-Term Contract (3 years)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for delivery of the approved project scope within authorised budget and schedule.
  • Establish and maintain project execution plans, governance frameworks and project controls.
  • Own capital expenditure forecasting, cost control and contingency management.
  • Drive value engineering opportunities and return on investment optimisation.
  • Align project activities with manufacturing, engineering, procurement and supply chain priorities.
  • Manage relationships with OEMs, contractors, consultants and regulatory authorities.
  • Drive contractor safety, productivity, quality and schedule performance.
  • Lead commissioning, start-up and operational readiness activities.
  • Translate approved debottlenecking roadmap into an integrated, phased programme execution plan.
  • Ensure that each phase achieves the required operational performance before subsequent expansion phases proceed.
  • Maintain an integrated master schedule covering engineering, procurement, construction, shutdowns, commissioning and operational readiness.
  • Ensure targeted throughput, efficiency, reliability and cost improvements are achieved. Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competitive Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BSc/BEng Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Process Engineering.
  • Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in capital project management within manufacturing, FMCG, mining, sugar, process plant, or heavy industry environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale CAPEX projects.
  • Proven experience delivering brownfield capital projects within an operating process plant.
  • Experience in technical oversight, engineering assurance, or similar within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
