Role description:

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall operational delivery of the MoRe Malawi Project, ensuring that forestry, agroforestry, restoration, and Nature-Based Solutions activities are executed safely, on time, within budget and in line with the Project’s requirements.

This is a strong field-based leadership role, translating strategy, technical design, and certification requirements into effective execution on the ground and coordinating the main operational functions of the Project.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of the MoRe Malawi Project.
  •  Manage large-scale forestry, agroforestry, restoration, nursery, planting, and ANR activities.
  • Ensure delivery against agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality and operational KPIs.
  • Coordinate field teams, contractors, infrastructure, logistics, equipment, and resources.
  • Ensure field implementation is aligned with the Project’s carbon methodologies, MRV requirements and validation/verification processes.
  • Work closely with Carbon/Science, GIS, Communities, Planning, SHEQ, Finance and Procurement teams.
  • Manage operational risks, deviations, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain effective relationships with designated government authorities, local communities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable SHEQ, environmental, social and company standards.
  • Promote and ensure the integration of sustainability principles across all project activities, balancing operational delivery with environmental, social, biodiversity, and long-term ecosystem restoration objectives.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Forestry, Agronomy, Agroforestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ proven track record in managing large-scale projects, overseeing complex projects, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale field operations and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Practical experience in carbon projects is mandatory, under Verra/VCS or similar recognized standards..
  • Strong operational, planning, budgeting, and people-management capabilities..
  • Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is highly desirable.
  • Fluent English and valid driving license.
