Job Description
Mwaiwathu Private Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Patient Attendant tenable at the Hospital along Chileka Road in Blantyre.
Position Context
Reporting to the Nursing and Midwifery Unit Manager, the Patient Attendant will provide basic assistance to patients in order to maintain their safety and care.
Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- To assist with bed bath, pressure area care and bedmaking
- To clean and disinfect linen, equipment and instruments.
- To assist and maintain general cleanliness of the unit
- To participate in ward linen management and inventory.
- To assist in feeding patients.
- To assist in wound dressing.Locate Medical Centers
- To ensures that all basic nursing interventions done are reported and documented.
- To assist in wheeling patients to and from radiology/wards
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a good Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- A Certificate in customer care/ service will be an added advantage.
- At least 1 (one) year experience working in a hospital environment.
Requisite knowledge, Abilities and skill

- Good command of English and fluency in other Malawian local languages
- Must be a self-starter, pro-active and honest.
- Must be willing to work odd hours.
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
