Job Description

JUNIOR FLIGHT DISPATCHER (KAMUZU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – LILONGWE)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill in the position of Junior Flight Dispatcher based at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA). The position holder will be reporting to the Head of Flight Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To maintain continuous flight watch
  • Handles incoming and outgoing messages and directs them to concern accordingly.
  • Prepare flight folders for following day and/or the same day operation.
  • Ascertains all necessary information is contained in all flight folders.
  • To monitor flight folder forms and advises the management in good time for re supply.
  • To always register flight departure and arrival times in flight movement control form during his/her shift.
  • To send or request flight movement and/or delay within fifteen minutes offlight scheduled departure and/or arrival.
  • To advise flight dispatchers of delays of more than 30 minutes.
  • To advise ramp coordinators of any aircraft changes, revised departures, delays and cancellations, fuel data when necessary to pass to all concerned.
  • To brief the person of incoming shift on current status, estimated progress of planned flight operation and other relevant information.
  • Handle calls to/from telephone, Aircraft, Ramp coordinators, and others on duty.
  • To coordinate on all operations with the duty flight dispatcher.
  • To compose messages and disseminate information on irregularities of scheduled operation to all concerned upon the review and approval of the flight dispatcher.
  • To handle flight information data entries from all available sources (Form-1, movement report from out stations etc.
  • To handle flight documents to/from the aircraft and clears flight folders arriving and file the following documents in Operations Control Office File Cabinet for 3 months
  • To disseminate original Form 1 to Crew Scheduling & a copy of Form 1, Fuel sheet, load & trim sheet, passenger and cargo manifests, NOTOC to Finance department.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the safety and security standards of Malawi Airlines.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent from recognized institution.
  • MSCE
  • At least 2 years’ experience
  • Candidates with aviation and computer knowledge will have added advantage
  • High level proven integrity
