Job Summary
A Production Corporation in Lilongwe is urgently seeking for a skilled and efficient Purchase Officer to ensure timely and secure delivery of packages, documents and other materials to clients and partners.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The person will be required to perform the following duties:
- Import Purchase Management: Manage import purchases, including ordering, tracking and delivery
- MRA Clearance Process: Ensure compliance with Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) regulations, including
- Obtaining necessary import permits and licenses
- Preparing and submitting import declarations
- Paying duties and taxes
- Import Shipment Handling: Coordinate with clearance agents to:
- Track shipments
- Clear customs
- Handle documentation (e.g. bills of lading, commercial payments)
- Road Traffic Permit: Obtain permits for transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with road traffic regulations.
Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required
- Malawi School certificate of Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement and knowledge in international purchase and negotiation
- Excellent communication and supplier service skills
- Strong understanding of purchasing principles and practices.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Proficient in using procurement software and systems is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
