Job Summary

Seed Co Malawi Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Processing Supervisor.

Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, the Processing Supervisor will be responsible for supervising seed processing and packing activities to enhance plant efficiency and ensure that production targets, quality standards, and operational procedures are achieved.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise seed processing and packing activities, ensuring management instructions are implemented accurately and on time.
  • Monitor processing and packing operations to ensure production targets are achieved within required timelines.
  • Ensure cost-effective and safe utilization of labour, packaging materials, chemicals, labels, and other processing inputs.
  • Supervise staff in both processing and packing plants, ensuring efficiency and adherence to responsibilities.
  • Oversee adherence to plant maintenance standards in liaison with maintenance service providers.
  • Ensure proper chemical application during seed dressing and strict plant clean-down procedures during crop changes and packing operations.
  • Ensure correct and compliant labeling of all seed bags, including quality printing on small seed packs.
  • Supervise the drawing of samples from each seed lot and ensure timely submission to the Seed Co laboratory.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all processing and packing documentation, including daily production sheets, job costing, and internal records.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment while managing packaging waste effectively and ensuring adherence to ISO procedures and operational standards.

Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required

  • Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Relevant qualifications in Agriculture, Seed Processing, Operations, or related fields will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a processing, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Work Ethic & Integrity: Honest, reliable, and demonstrates strong moral values.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Effective communication and strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Organizational & Supervisory Skills: Strong supervisory, organizational, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
