Job Summary
The Driver supports AHF Malawi operations by ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of staff, supplies, and equipment.
The role contributes to the smooth implementation of program activities by providing reliable transport services, maintaining assigned vehicles in sound working condition, completing vehicle records accurately, and complying with AF fleet policies and Malawi traffic laws. The Driver will also support routine logistics and operational tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Drive authorized AHF-Malawi staff, visitors, and approved partners for official duties.
- Transport program cargo, medical supplies, equipment, and documentation to designated locations.
- Ensure only approved passengers and official materials are transported.
- Uphold AHF’s high standards of safety, professionalism, and client service at all times.
- Conduct daily and routine checks of the vehicle (oil, water, brakes, battery, tires).
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.
- Ensure all vehicle tools, equipment, and safety accessories are available and operational.
- Report accidents, mechanical faults, or damages immediately to the Operations Manager.
- Ensure full compliance with Malawi road traffic regulations and AHF motor vehicle policies.
- Assist in basic logistics and administrative tasks that require outside travel.
- Support security follow up related to vehicle use, fuel cards, and movement documentation.
- Assist with movement, loading, and offloading of office supplies and program materials.
- Maintain accurate and up to date vehicle logbook entries, fuel usage records, and mileage reports.
- Represent AHF professionally and uphold its Code of Conduct at all times.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Operations Manager.
Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required
- Valid Malawi Driving License (Class C or D).
- Defensive Driving Certificate is required.
- Certificate in logistics, fleet management, or related field is an added advantage.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ driving experience in a reputable institution or NGO environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and vehicle operating procedures.
- Basic understanding of motor vehicle mechanics.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- High level of integrity, safety consciousness, and accountability.
- Good interpersonal and communication abilities.
