About the Company

Salima Sugar Co. Ltd. owns about 4,000 hectares of land and currently, 1,000 hectares of land is under cultivation. The farm and factory are located next to Lake Malawi which is the second largest lake in Africa Drip, flood and pivot irrigation is used for sugarcane crop depending on its suitability. Currently, the capacity of the factory is 1250 TCD this can be expanded to 1850 TCD.

Job Summary

A Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the entire purchasing process, from identifying needs to ensuring timely delivery and payment, for our Company. She or he is responsible for researching suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensure all purchases meet quality and cost standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifying Needs: Work with different departments to understand their needs and requirements for goods and services.
  • Supplier Research and Selection: Identify, research, and evaluate potential suppliers, considering factors like price, quality, reliability, and delivery capabilities.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the organization.
  • Purchase Order Management: Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and payment.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of goods and services received from suppliers, ensuring they meet company standards.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and mutual benefit.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements within the procurement process.
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with the procurement process, including supply chain disruptions and supplier failures.
  • Inventory Management: May be involved in managing inventory levels, ensuring sufficient stock while minimizing storage costs.
  • Reporting: Track and report on procurement performance, providing data to support decision-making.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Logistics with five years’ experience. Those with a Masters in Procurement will have an added advantage. Membership to Malawi Institute of Procurement & Supply is a must.
